Learning Note for Year 3
7th February 2020
This week… we have been putting all of our learning in English into practise by planning and drafting a hero myth based around Beowulf. You have all been so enthusiastic about this unit of work that we had trouble stopping you all writing yesterday! It is lovely to see you enjoying creating your stories and we are looking forward to reading the finished work. In maths, we have been finding missing numbers and using cherry models to help us to add and subtract. We explored texture in art and painted some superb trees. Have a look at the pictures on our class blog. We also finished our computer safety unit by signing a class charter promising to be safe online.
Reading for pleasure is very important and we would like you to take the opportunity to read whenever you can. Remember to get you parents to sign your reading records if they hear or see you reading.
This week we have been reading:
· The Accidental Prime Minister (class book)
We will be practising the following spellings next week, focusing on words from the statutory list. We will be testing you on Friday.
Times tables have already been sent home in your reading records. Keep practising using TTRockstars too! In class, we will be focusing on the seven times tables again.
Next week … In English, we will finish drafting, edit and write up our hero myths based on Beowulf. In maths, we will be looking at combined numbers. We will be celebrating differences in our PSHE lessons. We will be holding our jewel jar pyjama party on Friday afternoon. You can bring your pyjamas or dressing gown to change into and a small/medium teddy. We will provide juice and snacks.
Well done for a great week and have a good weekend,
Mrs Easey and Mrs Kilpatrick
