The end of our first full week 😊
It has been amazing to be back at school with full classrooms. The children have just got straight back into things and seem to be really enjoying their learning and seeing all of their friends again.
Thank you for working with us in our new system of getting into school. If we can really work on keeping a good distance between everyone when you are coming in and heading off, then hopefully we can keep everyone healthy and keep all of the year groups open over the coming months.
As a school we have decided to really try and capture the attention of the children since returning. So please keep an eye on Twitter this year, as we aim to share snippets of what is coming up, to try and excite them about their learning. Our Year 5 and 6 children will be flying into #wroxhamreading which will lead on to some great video book reviews, as well as them using able video calls to read to some of our younger children 😊
There are still many things that we don't know yet, for example, we don't know how we are going to run Parent Consultations. As soon as we work out all of the individual things like this, we will be in touch.
One of our newest additions is the use of the Wroxham notebooks we sent home at the end of last academic year. The children throughout the school are going to be using these as a journal, to track reflections on their learning and experiences at school. It is our intention that these should serve as a very positive and memorable element of their year, which will gather all of their learning in the academic year. These will be made available at certain points throughout the year so that your child can share them with you.
As you know, we are only in a position to provide packed lunches currently. This is something that we want to change, however, it will take a little time to work out the best and safest way to enable it.
Our Breakfast Club starts back next week and our After School provision starts on the 21st of September. They will be based in the PE Hall and you will drop off and collect from the side door - near the bike shelter. Again, this is going to be something that we will monitor and see how it goes, but we will keep in touch with the parents who use these services.
One of the best things about returning is seeing the children with their friends - it is a lovely sight and one that I hope we can maintain over however long we might find ourselves in this strange situation.
Our Reception children from last year are now big Year 1 children, which is amazing to see. As such, we will start to welcome our Early Years children in from next week, which the EYFS team and the rest of the school are very excited about. So, if you see a new face - child or parent - remember your first drop off and give them a smile please (from a suitable distance 😆)
I hope you all have a great weekend and maybe let the children have a bit of a lie in, as if my daughter is anything to go by, they will be pretty tired!
