Last week in Reception we:
· Recapped the phase 3 phonemes ‘j,v,w,x,y,z’, and learnt the tricky word ‘they’
· Constructed subtraction number sentences
· Learnt about Pancake Day
· Looked at different vegetables
· Focused on the traditional tale, ‘The Enormous Turnip’ by using the book ‘The Gigantic Turnip’ by Aleksei Tolstoy and Niamh Sharkey
This week in Reception we will be:
· Recapping the phase 3 phonemes ‘zz’, ‘ng’ and ‘qu’
· Weighing vegetables
· Celebrating World Book Day
· Continuing to look at different vegetables from our focus stories
· Continuing to focus on the traditional tale, ‘The Enormous Turnip’ using the book ‘The Gigantic Turnip’ by Aleksei Tolstoy and Niamh Sharkey
At home you can:
· Read stories and ask your child which is their favourite part and why
· Read your child's books and write in their reading record
· Retell The Enormous Turnip
- Feel the weight of different vegetables in your hand and use the language heavier and lighter to
describe them
