Last week in Reception we:

· Recapped the phase 3 phonemes ‘zz’, ‘ng’ and ‘qu’ · Weighed vegetables · Celebrated World Book Day · Continued to look at different vegetables from our focus stories · Continued to focus on the traditional tale, ‘The Enormous Turnip’ using the book ‘The Gigantic Turnip’ by Aleksei Tolstoy and Niamh Sharkey


This week in Reception we will be:

· Recapping the phase 3 phonemes ‘sh’, ‘th’, ‘ch’ and the tricky word ‘my.’

· Investigating pushing and pulling

· Continuing to look at different vegetables from our focus stories

· Continuing to focus on the traditional tale, ‘The Enormous Turnip’ using the book ‘The Gigantic Turnip’ by Aleksei Tolstoy and Niamh Sharkey


At home you can:

· Read stories and ask your child which is their favourite part and why

· Read your child's books and write in their reading record

· Ask your child to make up a new story about a different vegetable

· Investigate pushing and pulling of objects at home
