Y6 Learning Notes - 13/03/2020

This week…

In maths, we’ve been focussing on reasoning. In English, we’ve been focussing on formal writing, whilst in Topic, we’ve learnt about Copper Canyon, the Lacandon Jungle and the Chihuahuan Desert. We also participated in the Owen’s Athletics competition, being placed 3rd overall.

Next week…

Much of the week will be taken up with looking at past SATs papers. These offer the children a chance to get used to the styles of questions that are asked as well as helping me to identify areas that we need to revisit/cover throughout the rest of the academic year.

Thursday 19th March – Y6 Photography Day

As a special little treat, on Thursday Wildlife Photographer Iain Green will be spending the day with Y6. Children should come to school wearing their forest school kit – they do not need to bring school uniform with them. We will be outside for the entire day, so please ensure that your child brings warm clothing, a jumper/hoodie and a suitable coat/waterproof. Hiking boots, wellies or suitable footwear are essential. If children wish to bring in a second forest school outfit, in case they get wet and cold in the morning, then they are welcome to change at lunchtime.

Thursday 19th March – Learning Reviews

A reminder that learning reviews will take place next Thursday (unless you requested a slot on Wednesday 25th March). This is an opportunity for the children to share their learning, so please remember to bring them along with you! If you cannot make the time you have been allocated then please let me know so that I can offer it to someone else.
