This week....I have been so impressed with the work that we have produced this week. Our writing in English and Science has been amazing. In English, we created an underwater scene to help inspire our writing. We watched some videos and listened to some underwater sounds to help with our setting description. In Maths, we have starting looking at repeated addition and understanding equal and unequal groups. This will help us when we move on to looking at multiplication questions next week. Our Science work this week was fantastic. We learned about the basic needs of animals and humans and created fact files on a range of different household pets.
Over the next few weeks we will be ensuring we know our high frequency words so we are confident when writing. Please learn these spellings for next week.
- could -looked -their -out -made
We are actively promoting reading for pleasure this year and would like the children to take the opportunity to read as much as possible. Research states that there is just as much to be gained from parents reading to children as there is from having children read to adults. So, if you get the chance to, then please try to read as a family. Please write in your child’s reading record too.
This week we have been reading:
How To Find Gold - English text
Matilda - Voted for class text (it has been amazing to see some of the children bring their own copies in and read along)
Next week.... In English, we will complete our underwater settings. We will focus on how to edit our work before we publish our writing and show our hard work to another class. In Maths, we will continue with multiplication. Counting in 2s, 5s and 10s will help with our work this week. During topic lessons we will be learning about a new explorer Edmund Hillary. We will compare Columbus and Hillary and learn about the adventures that Hillary completed during his lifetime.
