This week… In English, we continued our work on ‘The Secret of Black Rock’. We created a story map of the story so far and spoke about how the main character ‘Erin’ would be feeling at different parts of the story. We added feeling words to our story map which will help us with our writing. In maths, we have been learning about fractions. We have looked at equal and unequal images and then moved on to find ½ of amounts. We learned that when we ½ a number the bottom number tells us how many groups we need to share between. We used smarties and worked in pairs to ½ numbers and then has a sneaky few smarties to end our lesson.
In topic, we learned more about continents. We sorted information into true and false, spoke about animals and landmarks. We had an amazing art lesson this week with Mrs Ramalho, where we learned about to manipulate clay. We made some amazing sculptures using just our hands.
To top off our brilliant week we celebrated World Book Day. We made predictions on the story, created pictures based on descriptions of the giant, added in new pages and today created playground giants using chalks. Our work was even retweeted by the author!
Spelling & Homework
Over the next few weeks we will be ensuring we know our high frequency words so we are confident when writing. Please learn these spellings for next week.
